The Rotary Tree of Light

The Rotary Tree of Light this year raised an amazing £6,500 for charity. The presentation was led by Rotarian Melanie Adams at the Brewers Home store in Birch Road, and each charity was presented with a cheque for £1,300.

The beneficiaries were, You Raise Me Up, People Matter, Eastbourne Street Pastors, Eastbourne Blind Society, and East Sussex CRUSE.

Some 300 people attended the lighting of the tree outside The Congress Theatre in December and invited to tie white ribbons to the tree in memory of loved ones. The Rotary Clubs in Eastbourne work together on the event which has run for over 20 years and enjoys the support of Eastbourne Businesses as sponsors, helping to support local charities.

Eastbourne AM President James Hookway presented cheque of £1300 to the Charity You Raise Me Up.

This will make a huge difference to the Charity enabling us to run 13 support griups for the bereaved families we work with
