It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the closure of You Raise Me Up due to a lack of ongoing financial support.

We have loved being able to support so many families for the last 15 years in memory of Megan and Jane Brooks.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the charity for the past 15 years and we are so grateful to have had this opportunity for as long as we have.
We also pay tribute to all our staff, counsellors and supporters – including many local businesses – for all the hard work they have done. It has been a privilege working with everyone.
You Raise Me Up has been an incredibly special place for so many and we will treasure the experiences we have had and the wonderful families we have met.
This decision has not been easy and we have explored all viable options, but unfortunately due to a lack of sustained financial support and rising operational costs we can no longer operate.
This is an incredibly difficult time and we know how much upset this will cause. But we are immensely proud of everything You Raise Me Up has achieved. Megan and Jane’s legacy will continue beyond the organisation itself.
As of now we will no longer be operating. Our priority now is to ensure a responsible and compassionate wind-down.

The YRMU Skydive 2018

The weather kept us waiting but once the cloud cleared our skydivers achieved their dreams!

The brave 33 took on the challenge to raise funds and awareness of YRMU and for many other different reasons too!

Some of them shared their stories –

Sue & Katie’s story – “We are raising funds to support a charity very close to our hearts. On the 10th June we will be pushing ourselves to the limit, and skydiving to raise awareness for all the amazing work they do.

The sole purpose of You Raise Me Up is to offer emotional and financial support to families that have suffered the loss of a child between the ages of 16-25.

Having witnessed the support first hand with the loss of Sue’s daughter Melissa in 2016. We want to make sure others are able to benefit from the great work they do, whether it be the Cafe offering a shoulder to cry on over a slice of cake, 24 hour hotline or counselling.”

Thank you xx

Katie’s story -“Where to begin……. 13th May 2011 my day started as normal but what I was not expecting was the devastating news I was going to be told…… My bestest friend, my rock, one of the people I loved the most Megan had died suddenly and unexpectedly. Of course this was one of the lowest points a family could hit in their life but instead of withdrawing themselves from people Megan’s amazing parents and brother Jane, Fraser And Ollie set up a Charity called You Raise Me Up which supports families that lose a child between the ages of 16 and 25 both financially and emotionally. This is not only a charity but a community filled with amazing people in which the charity have been able to help and welcome anybody with open arms. If it wasn’t for this beautiful charity a lot of families would be lost and would not know who to turn to, and so I am going to do a sky dive in memory of my beautiful, caring and amazing best friend Megan.”

Thank you xx

Annemarie’s story – I attended a ladies Networking event and was privileged to hear two volunteers of the charity carry out a presentation in order to raise awareness of this amazing organisation. When I listened it really touched a place in my heart and I knew wanted to help but was just not sure how I heard recently that You Raise Me UP were looking for mad people like myself to throw them selves out of a plane from 10,000 ft to raise as much money as possible.”

Thank you xx
